Overview

The Mateng Menasor 2.2m Flail Mower is a heavy-duty mulching mower designed for tractors from approximately 55–95HP, with manually adjustable side shift for fence lines, orchards, vineyards, and general farm maintenance.

Built for demanding mowing conditions, the Menasor uses 28 forged hammer flails, a heavy-duty 4-belt drive system, and a large rear opening door to efficiently handle grass, scrub, pasture topping, and prunings up to approximately 50mm diameter.

Its offset capability allows the mower to work further outside the tractor wheel track, making it particularly useful for orchard rows, shelter belts, drains, and boundary maintenance.

The Menasor is designed for heavier real-world mulching work where many flail mowers struggle, including heavy grass, woody material, orchard prunings, wet conditions, and dense roadside growth. Its opening rear door improves discharge flow in dense material, helping reduce blockages, excess recutting, unnecessary power load, and uneven mulching finish. The side shift design also allows operators to mow closer to fence lines, offset from tractor wheels, work under orchard canopies, and maintain drains and boundaries more effectively — making it a true all-purpose mulching mower rather than just a basic pasture topper.

Flail Mowers, Mulchers & Slashers — Common Questions

What PTO speed do I need for a flail mower or slasher?

Most flail mowers and slashers run at 540 RPM; some larger models are 1000 RPM. Check the product spec and match it to your tractor's PTO speed — running one at the wrong speed can damage the gearbox.

Do I need a hydraulic side-shift, or is manual offset enough?

Manual side-shift is fine if you only occasionally mow along fence lines or ditches and don't mind stopping to reposition it. Hydraulic side-shift lets you offset the mower from the seat while moving, which is worth the extra cost if you're mowing verges or banks regularly.

What's the difference between a flail mower and a slasher?

A flail mower uses multiple free-swinging blades (flails) on a rotating drum, giving a fine, mulched finish that's safer around debris and better for orchard, vineyard or roadside work. A slasher (rotary mower) uses fewer fixed blades spinning flat, cutting faster over rough pasture but leaving a coarser finish. If you're mowing long grass or scrub at pace, a slasher is usually the better fit; for a tidy, mulched finish around trees or fences, go flail.

How much tractor horsepower do I need?
